Hi Ivan

Here is a list of my book activities.

Thursday afternoon Bob Piwarzak and Frank Perry will be interviewed by Bruce Bratton on the UCSC radio station. (The station room is very small so no audience except me)

Saturday from 1-3 will be a book signing at the Museum of Art and History. Good speeches and light refreshments before the main event. Everybody welcome

July 2. A book talk at the RedCross. " "

Tuesday evening July 24 a book signing at the Capitola Book Cafe.

Favorable reviews have appeared in the Santa Cruz Sentinel and the Metro.

We are taking a leaf out of your book and going after as much publicity as possible.

Would you let the people on the Blog know of these dates so if they can't make one program maybe they can get to another.

Congrats to Alverda and Co. on their new book. Your 'Gran Blaggatore' will make an attempt to be there on Saturday.

BTW: The photo in the background is of Joe Brovia, 'The Davenport
Destroyer' who went from First Street in New Town (Davenport) to the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame. (LNC:pgs.119-128). If you 'clicca' on the photo it will enlarge and you will be able to more fully appreciate Joe's powerful swing. This particular photo usually is prominently diplayed on the living room wall at Cathy Brovia's house. ivno

Hi Ivano,

Thanks for the photos.... That was a nice day at the library...

I just came from Monterey..... Joe's grandson (Jeanys son) graduated from the Monterey Fire academy today. I am so proud of him. He was one of 23 that graduated, and he has a job already in San Luis Obispo Fire Dept. Starts next week... Joe would be happy that all three of his grandkids turned out great. All have good jobs. Matt, teaching school in Kawaii, one son, and another on the way, Haley, is an interior decorator in Southern Calif., and just graduated from another course in commercial interior decorating with an A. She is a very aggressive gal, and with all these extensive classes, she has received a B +. Then along comes Nick, and today, he graduated from the Fire Dept....Joe we are proud of your offsprings!!!! Sorry, no baseball players.

Funny story about the way things happen..... When Joe had his big day in Oakland, receiving his just dues in 2005,( getting into the PCL hall of fame, ) someone said to me, it is too bad Joe is not here to see all this. I said,,,, He is here, sitting in the empty seat next to me... Well, I had mentioned to my step daughter, that I hoped there might be an empty seat reserved next to me for Joe to see his grandson graduate today.... Well, with a full house, lo and behold...... the seat next to me was again occupied by no one. A gentlemen and his wife asked me if someone was sitting there, and I said no, and proceeded to tell him the story about the PCL event. it was his son that was graduating, and that his mother was somewhere in the audience. I told him to bring her down to be closer to the stage and to take the seat. She was comfortable being where she was, and did not want to move. I thought this was ironic to have that empty seat next to me again...Of course I went to the cemetary the other day, and talked to Joe about his grandson...

This is kind of weird, but I thought you might enjoy this believe it or not.... by Cathy.

Glad you are doing so well with your book..... Am so happy for Alverda, and have told her to reserve me an autographed copy.....(signed by all the writers)... I look forward to seeing her on Sat. at the Museum....I know she will also be a great success. She is a great person..

Cathy

LNC: Thanks Cathy for such a wonderful e-mail, updating us on Joe's offspring. I am sure he would be proud of them all. Your story of the empty chair reminds me of all those "ghost of coast" stories in "La Nostra Costa". They (the 'ghosts' certainly have a strange way of talking to you....don't they. ivn0
