BRONCO'S BIRTHDAY

TODAY IS MARCH 15. IN NIMIS A SMALL VILLAGE IN NORTHEASTERN ITALY ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN YEARS AGO, GERVASIO COMELLI WAS BORN. AS READERS OF “LA NOSTRA COSTA” WILL KNOW, GERVASIO IMMIGRATED TO ‘LA COSTA’ IN 1923, WHERE HE WAS GIVEN THE NICK-NAME “BRONCO”. THE NICK-NAME STAY WITH HIM FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

SINCE THAT TIME MANY THINGS HAVE HAPPENED TO THE COMELLI - BRESSANI FAMILY IN AMERICA. NONE OF WHICH WOULD HAVE HAPPENED, IF ‘BRONCO’ HAD CHOSEN NOT TO IMMIGRATE TO AMERICA. IN FACT, THE STORY OF ‘LA NOSTRA COSTA’, WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN WRITTEN-- AT LEAST NOT BY ME.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PA-PA. IVANO

Felice compleanno, caro Bronco. Yes, Ivano, many of us are most fortunate to have had parents who were inspired to relocate to America. Had they not done so, many of us would not have survived the war years. My mother's relatives, for instance, spent some nights sleeping in open graves, to avoid the Nazi raids. Others were not so lucky.

Let us always recognize this great land of freedom and be grateful for what it has done for us, and as Pres. Kennedy said, Let us ask what we can do for our country.

You have done your part in great measure, for which I thank you.

Saluti, Gino

Wow, easy date to remember: The day Julius Caesar
was murdered--the Ides of March.

And I thought my birthday, April 19 was easy to remember. On that day in 1775 British and American troops exchanged fire at Lexington and Concord, signalling the start of our bloody fight for Independence.

I think March and April have been plagued with acts of violence more than any other months in our history. ivno

Oh, I forgot to mention that I missed being born on Adolph Hitler's birthday by one day. This anti-christ figure in history was born on April 20.
